Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
How long to place a claim?
I was hit by a car a couple years ago (the vehicle hit the back of my leg going at a very fast speed)and didn't think I was injured. I've been having major pains in the spot I was hit, and heard from a friend that it may be an issue that has developed because of the impact. Is it too late to place a claim if I find out that's what caused it? THANK YOU

DO YOU HAVE THE INFORMATION OF THE DRIVER AND/OR THE VEHICLE AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY OF THE DRIVER OR REGISTERED OWNER THAT HIT YOU? IS THERE A POLICE REPORT OR IS THERE ANY WITNESSES? CONTACT MY OFFICE AT 213.388.7070 IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE INFORMATION (EVEN PARTIALLY) AND AS OTHER ATTORNEYS COMMENTED, YOU ONLY HAVE TWO YEARS TO FILE A LAWSUIT BUT YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO FIND AND SERVE THE DEFENDANTS WITH THE COMPLAINT.SO CONTACT MY OFFICE FOR A FREE CONSULTATION ABOUT YOUR CASE.
Re: How long to place a claim?
You have two years from the date of the accident to file a lawsuit. Otherwise you'll never be able to make a claim. Of course, you also must have a doctor who will testify that, with reasonable medical probability, the pain and accident are related.
Re: How long to place a claim?
You only have two years to file suit. If it is over that, you're out of luck. If less than two years, and if you have a medical treatment and bills related to the collision, you may still be able to present a claim. Contact me if so, asap.
