Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

How long can they sue?

My mother had an automobile accident ten years ago (in September)in the Los Angeles county area. Every couple of months, she gets a letter from a new lawyer stating that she is being sued (again)for that car accident. I thought someone can sue for a certain number of years. My mother feels harrassed by all these lawyers trying to sue her repeatedly. For how many years can someone legally sue someone for a car accident? Isn't there a ''cut-off'' date?

Re: How long can they sue?

Tell them to take a hike, they had one year to sue. Also, you could file a complaint against the attorneys with the State Bar of California for misuse of the courts.

Re: How long can they sue?

The statute of limitations for personal injury would have been 1 year from the date of the accident and 3 years for property damage. Feel free to fax me the latest letter you received to (408) 267-4677 and I will be glad to investigate the matter at no charge. Thanks for your question and good luck.

Re: How long can they sue?

An attorney should be able to write a letter to these folks threatening them with a lawsuit for intentional infliction of emotional distress and, perhaps, elder abuse, if they keep it up!
