Re: Medical injuries/Dog Attack
The dog's owner is certainly liable for the victims medical care and much, much more. Consult with an attorney with a wealth of experience in dog attack cases (like us) who can assist with getting immediate medical attention.
Assuming the dog's owner is a homeowner, there will be plenty of insurance coverage to take care of everything.
The victim can get a free consultation, over the phone or in person, from anyone of the attorneys listed on this directory. She can call me or see my website at www.aboutdogbites.com.
Good luck.
Re: Medical injuries
You need to determine whether the dog-owners have any assets. Feel free to call us at 213.388.7070 for a free consultation about your case.
Re: Medical injuries
The dog's owners should be responsible for her medical treatment. However, our system is one in which they do not pay until there is a settlement of some sort.
I would start by calling the owner and asking if they have insurance. If they do, ask them for that information. If they do not, you will need to determine if they have assets and a lawsuit may need to be filed.
If there is insurance, you should file a claim. The insurance company will conduct an investigation, but as I said, they will not pay until the case is resolved.
So how to resolve your dilemma? Call Medi-Cal or a local social services agency and ask them if they have any resources to help. Maybe she can qualify for care at an inpatient facility or maybe there is a social services agency that will help her. They may need to be reimbursed if there is a case that settles, but that will get her the most immediate treatment.
Re: Medical injuries
Homeless or not, she would be entitled to recover for her injuries from the dogs' owner. The problem is: whether they have insurance or assets to collect against. Have her contact me if interested in getting help in this.
