Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Last night went driving side swipe my neighbor's two cars. I have no insurance and no registration. They do not want to involove their insurance. They took their cars and got quotes for the damage. I do not have the money to pay about $3,000. They metion taking me to small claims. What should I do?
