Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Is there any way to protect yourself when neighborhood kids use your kids toys out in the street (ie. skateboard, scooter, pogo stick, ramp)?

Or do you just have to be the jerk who says no one can touch or use our toys?

You could do what I do and make the neighbors' kids' parents sign a 6-page disclaimer. But then you'd have as few friends as I do. Or you could just buy homeowners' or renters' insurance.

You could always try not letting your kids leave there stuff lying all over the neighborhood. If you have a skateboard ramp, though, you're just begging for a lawsuit. Better make sure your insurance is paid up and has nice high limits. A kid in my ex's neighborhood is in an electric wheelchair and will require attended care the rest of his life due to brain damage suffered using a neighbor's skateboard ramp. I'm pretty sure it bankrupted the family that owned the ramp.
