I was rear ended on the freeway, and my insurance has expired..Can i go after the other parties insurance for damages

You 'go after' the other at fault driver and registered owner[s] for whatever your damages are. If they have insurance, that's who pays. If your medical injuries are substantial, with multiple thousands of dollars in treatment bills, then attorneys would be interested. You would be limited to recovery of what is called special damages which includes medical bills, loss of earnings ,loss of earning capacity,and property damage but not general damages most commonly referred to as pain and suffering.The voters in their wisdom passed proposition 213 some time ago which imposed the limitations
