Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
I slammed my hand in a door at a hospital yesterday. I had to make them file a report but they refused to pay for an ER visit so I didn't go as I can't afford it. I'm right-handed and that's the afflicted hand. Today the hospital called to have me go to the ER to be checked at their cost. I just called them and was now told not to come. I'm in EMT school and need my hand. How can I get them to take responsibility?

Why do you believe they have responsibility?
Were you working or volunteering at the hospital at the time? If so, you may be entitled to treatment under work comp.
Contact a manager is the risk liability or whatever section handles claims and see if they will provide the ER visit as much cheaper than if you file a claim, no matter who is at fault.
So why do you think they are responsible for you slamming your hand in a door?? Other than on job injury covered by WCAB, they would have no liability for your negligence.
If you were working for the hospital at the time you may have a workers comp. case. If there was a defective door you might have a PI case. If you slammed it on your own without any additional facts you may be out of luck.
