Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Escrow closed on our home two months ago. Today a building inspector showed up and told us that the work done to our terraced yard was not permitted. The former owner did not hire a contractor, did the work himself, and did not obtain a permit. He did not disclose any of this to us. We are now being told we need to re-do everything he did.

Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You can try to negotiate payment of the repair costs with the seller, or failing that, you will have to sue the seller, and their broker if you any evidence he knew and failed to disclose. You'll probably need to hire an attorney to do those negotiations, to make the threat of litigation credible. Certainly do so to sue. If serious about doing so, feel free to contact me.
