Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Grandaughter and boyfriend bought house together 6 yrs, ago. They have "broken off" their relationship and she wants to sel house and get her money but he is happy to just continue as roommates each paying half mortgage. What recourse does she have?

She can sell her half interest to someone else. That will likely be difficult. She can also file an action for "partition", asking the court to divide the property (which will likely result in an order that the property be sold). Filing such an action often results in a settlement, such as one party buying the other's share.
