can i legally take possession of a motorcycle abandoned on my property.

Legally? Possession, yes, you already have that. Title, no, not without complying with all the DMV requirements for doing so. Go talk to them and get all the forms and info you'll need. If you don't comply, you could be charged with grand theft.
