Mortgage

If a house owned in joint

tenancy by a husband and wife.

The husband holds the

mortgage in his name only, and

dies.

Does the mortgage have to be

paid off, or does it

transferred to the wife?.

The mortgage is a lien on the property. Death doesn't change that. She either continues making payments or loses the house to foreclosure.
