Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

SSI recieving home owner

My aunt recently passed away suddenly. She owned a home and has been on SSI her whole life. We currently live in the home. There was no will leaving the home to any of her children. Will SSI take the house and leave us homeless? or will they let us buy the home from them? who has claim to the property?

Re: SSI recieving home owner

SS does not own the home. You will need to file a Probate proceeding to obtain a court order distributing her property to her heirs in accordance with the law. Hopefully, that means you. Contact a local attorney.
