Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Six years ago I took over ownership of a timeshare from my mother-in-law because she could no longer afford it. I have used the property once in six years and now would like to relieve myself of the $500 annual maintenance fees. Selling it is out of the question, because I have even tried to give it away with no response.

Is there a way to get this thing off my hands without destroying my credit?

Did you try any of the companies specializing in the re-sale of time shares? You might be able to give it away to a charity that could use it as a prize in a raffel.

Contact the company and try to turn it back and cancel the contract. There is no easy answer for you.
