Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California
Abuse at work
i am 18 years old and have a big issue. i start to work for this resaurant before it opened, and continued once it started for business. A week before the place opened one of the managers told me that if i didnt hang out with him, that he would fire me ''like that(snap of finger)'' . the owner then told me that i would become a shift leader, which entitles more pay. well they fired that manager for sexual harassment towards numerous people. then another day the owner slapped me in the face, infront of two other people. one of them he also slapped, but he clamed he didnt care. at the time i was pissed, but being that i cannot loose my job i did not quit. then a week later, someone went into my personal belongings and stole some pictures of myself, just facials mostly, and taped them on the bar, for everyone to see. now i was pissed. i told him and his wife that i expected them to look at the security cameras and get the person who did this. they agreed, but the next week they ''let me go''. they never got the tape to show me. he also drinks on the job, and has his daughter (13)working there. WHAT CAN I DO? do attorneys handle on this consignment??

Re: Abuse at work
If you have witnesses to prove your allegations, you have a claim for assault and battery for the slapping. That kind of legal action would be typically worth only a 'token' value, since you were not injured, hospitalized, etc.
The sexual harassment was dealt with appropriately by firing the manager, so the company complied with the law and probably avoided liability for damages, unless you can somehow show your firing was in retaliation for you making the sexual harassment charges. You said others made similar charges, so unless they were also fired, there doesn't appear to be the required motive for your firing.
