Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

Personal Harrasment

Someone answer to my posts on Craigslist for Cassual Enconters and did it with 4 different e mail addresses and was the same person who I had meet in the past. He agree to meet in 3 different locations (I was assuming was different persons) and just wasted my time, money and gas. Besides I spend some extra money on this.At the end he came forward and recognize was all a belated April's Fools joke. The content of the mails was the character personnel and I felt that my privacy was violated. Can this be considered sexual harrassment or stalking???

Re: Personal Harrasment

There are both civil and criminal prohibitions on cyberstalking. My read of the law indicates that you might have enough to establish the technical case for either, but I don't believe you'll recover any significant money damages or personal vindication by pursuing it.

If this person is not continuing to harass you, you might consider just letting it go. If he is continuing this conduct, or if you feel endangered, you should have the police make a report and obtain a restraining order.
