Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California
Timeline for Sexual Harrassment claim
I used to be a flight attendant for a private charter company, so I spent a lot of time with the pilots I flew with. The Chief pilot, who hired me, was really a nice older guy, but always made comments to me about how I looked. I always let it go, laughing it off. One particular trip, around new year's 2006, the comments got to a point where he made me feel uncomfortable. He also tried dancing really close to me one night and on new year's, when we we alone as I was walking to my room, he pressured me to give him a ''new year's kiss''. I didn't say anything to my bosses, but mentioned to the 2 other pilots that he said innappropriate things and that he should be careful what he says in the future and that I don't want to be alone with him. Shortly after new year's and my attitude changed, I was let go. I don't think that he let me go because of that, but I feel it played a part in it. I didn't file a claim against him, because I felt bad and didn't want to get him in trouble. Now I feel like I got screwed on the deal. He doesn't work there anymore. Should I say anything to my old bosses now?

If you feel you can show the termination was in some way 'retaliatory' for your complaint, then you may pursue a claim by filing with DFEH. You are running out of time to do so, don't delay. Feel free to contact me if you intend to do so, and want legal help.
