Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California
My wife's boss is living with one of is nurses.
My wife's boss (owner of the company) lives with and dates one of the nurses in his employ. This nurse gets preferential treatment. Examples would include access to the office checking account, authority to give orders to peer nurses, and unofficial authority to override the office manager anytime she sees fit. The reactions from my wife on any typical day lead me to believe this is a hostile working environment. Am I correct and if so is there any way I can file a grievance on her behalf. She is afraid to walk through that door but would cooporate if pushed through it.

The Mrs. has a cause of action for sexual discrimintation if she has been denied employment benefits as a result of her boss's relationship with her co-worker. Contact me directly.

If she is willing to take action, she [not you] can file a claim of sexually hostile environment and interview with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, or with the EEOC. That is the prerequisite to filing a lawsuit on those claims. Both actions assume she has some way of proving what she claims, and that the conduct complained about rises to the level of severity that it is worth pursuing. Feel free to have her contact me to discuss the actual facts and her rights and remedies.
