Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

wrongly convicted sex offender. Im looking for Pro-bono attorney to help us with my sons case, which occured in 2001 when he was 18 years old, he was charged with a 288(a) he took a plea bargain. In 2009, we received a Notarized Affidavit from victim stating that it was all a lie and nothing ever happened and she would like to clear this all up, that my son is serving time for a crime he did not commit. She went to our Public Defenders office to recant they would not listen to her.I have copies of her affidavit and she is willing to do whatever she has to do to clear this up. My son is now 30 years old and has been in and out of prison for violations under Jessicas Law and no new cases. I would like to know what we can do? I cannot afford a attorney and with no money no one is willing to help us. My son is innocent so is our system set up to keep an innocent man in prison just because he has no money? I am seeking your help or referrals Thank you so much

Unfortunately I cannot help you as this is not my main area of law. However I am including a link to the California state bar pro bono resources webpage. You should be able to find free legal resources on that webpage and lawyers that can provide you with pro bono legal services. If you have any other questions feel free to email me and I can research additional pro bono options for you and provide you with additional information.

Here is the link to pro bono resource:

Pro Bono = Public Defender, paid for with tax dollars.

A several year old conviction is 'final'. Normal appeals period ran out shortly after conviction. You can try to find some non profit 'inmate rights' group willing to try to bring a motion based upon 'newly discovered evidence', if that is actually what this qualifies as.
