Legal Question in Tax Law in California
In the state of California, if an unmarried man accumulates an IRS and/or state tax debt, then subsequently marries, is his wife liable for any portion of that debt? The debt was totally incurred by the man prior to the wedding. No prenuptuals were signed. Is the wife laible for any portion of the tax debt, and if so, what portion?
