Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Appeared for traffic court date and no record of citation was found in court rec

I got a ticket and signed it agreeing to appear on the date and time specified. When I went to court the clerk said there was no record of the citation and I would be notified by mail of the new court date. I fulfilled my obligation to appear as agreed, do I need to accept the letter from the court with a new court date or do I get a pass? The clerk stamped, dated and signed the back of my ticket, but I didn't sign anything agreeing to appear on another date. The time between the citation and the court date was 4 weeks.

If you do not appear in court a warrant will be issued for you and you may be placed in jail pending the posting of bail or appearing in court. Make sure the court clerk has your correct address so that you will receive notice of the court date.

To fight this ticket you should either retain an attorney, or review the Nolo Press book How to Fight Your Traffic Ticket.
