Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Motor Vehicle Accident Without Insurance

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident five months ago. It was agreed at the scene that it was the other driver's fault. There was minor damage to both vehicles - scuff marks and scratches - but no physical injuries. The other driver and I exchanged insurance information and personal identification. I did not report the accident because the damage was well below $500.

I discovered only two weeks ago that I did not have vehicle insurance at the time of the accident - I honestly thought that I was covered.

Please help me because this has been exhausting and is a great financial burden for me. My insurance went from $600 to $1,800; I paid $255 for the priviledge of obtaining a restricted driver's license; the other driver is now asking for $2,500.00 to repair her vehicle.

Re: Motor Vehicle Accident Without Insurance

There is really not a lot you can do at this point. You can either try and settle with her or fight it.
