Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
police lights
The police car was parked on the side of the road with absolutely no lights on when I drove by. When I reached a stop sign 100 feet up ahead, the cop pulled out, turned on his lights and issued a ticket for not making a complete stop at the sign. Is there some traffic law that requires a police cars' lights to be on while on the side of the road?

Re: police lights
Police officers are subject to the same traffic regulations as any other driver. There are however exceptions that apply to them to allow getting to emregencies quickly, arresting individuals etc. Thus if the average person would not have been required to have lights on the police officer would not.
