Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Suspended License

My license has been suspended since 1998 because of a failure to appear in court after no proof of insurance after an accident. Due to my financial troubles at the time I was unable to pay the fine in full. I stopped recieving the bill from the court about 5 years ago. Now that I am more financially stable I contacted the court this year and discovered that there is no record of my case. My MVR shows the license is suspended, but at the end of the document it reads: Failures to Appear - None, Accidents - None. Before I buy an insurance policy to reinstate my license I would like to know if this 'lost' fine will suddenly appear and worsen my dilema.

Re: Suspended License

It is unlikely that it will. But these items have a tendency to pop up unexpectedly. However, the court would probably give you an opportunity to pay the fine in monthly installments.
