Do you have a cite in California for law requiring adult child to support indigent parent?

Maybe I'll be educated here, as I've never heard of such a law. There are government safety nets like SSI and Medi-Cal to supplement a parents' income if it's too low to pay for their needs.

Children can get in trouble with the law when they've started caring for their parents but neglect them or not care for them well enough and cause them harm, and new and tougher elder abuse statutes make it easier to be accused of this.

Thus, I'm not aware of any law requiring children to care for their parents, but if children do take on this responsibility, they must do it well, or find someone or a government agency that can do it well.
