what can b done if I have a mandatory settlement meeting for a conservatorship issue and cannot attend due to conflict of dates? can it be postponed to another date?

Yes, especially if it is the first request by you. Contact opposing counsel to get possible dates, call up the clerk in the assigned judge's courtroom and ask how the judge likes it to be handled and the do so.
