A last will and testament sets forth the testator's wishes for disposition of his or her estate (assets) and names an executor to handle the administration of the estate, and does not take effect until the testator dies. A living will is concerned with end of life issues, and may name a person to make medical decisions when the person signing the living will is not able to make them him or herself. This is usually accomplished by an Advance Health Care Directive in California.
