Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I am the executor of my fathers living trust. What happens when he dies if I don't want to continue to the be executor? How do I remove myself and appoint someone else?

The trust instrument should provide for resignation of trustees. If a successor trustee is named in the trust, you should contact that person and find out if they are willing to take on the responsibility. If you resign and there is noone to take over, then ordinarily you, as the present trustee, might have to file a Petition with the Court for approval of your withdrawal and the appointment of a successor trustee. You should meet with an attorney and have the trust reviewed. I would be happy to assist.
