as a future beneficiary to a trust(my stepmother isn't talking to me) am I entitled to a statement yearly?

The trustee is probably not required to do an annual accounting, but you can request "a report of information about the assets, liabilities, receipts, and disbursements of the trust, the acts of the trustee, and the particulars relating to the administration of the trust" relevant to your interest (CA Probate Code 16061)
