is there a grace period for trust or is property transfered after death?

I'm not sure what you mean by "grace period." Once death occurs, assuming that the property has been properly transferred into the trust before the death, it can be distributed to the beneficiary in accordance with the terms of the trust at almost any time.

The trustee has some discretion, but must follow the directions of the trust document. If there are debts that the trust must pay or if there are other obligations, those are matters that might cause a trustee to have to wait before the trustee can make the final distribution.
