Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My mother recently died leaving no assets except house with small amt of equity - it sold and my brother and i are co-trustees of her trust. she had a mercedes benz car lease with 2 more years left - we turned in the car immediately - they are trying to collect 30K in remainder lease pmts - can they legally do that?

Yes. If your mother would have had to pay it had she lived, they are entitled to try to collect it from her estate now that she has passed away. Whether they can succeed or not depends on her estate planning, but most likely the equity in the house will have to be applied to the balance of the lease.
