What is the procedure for transfering existing power of attorney for a family member with alzheimers (from siblings to the adult children of the alzheimers patient)?

If the existing power of attorney has clause for successor holders, it is possible.

If not, you may need to petition a court in county where the patient resides for appointment of a conservator.

Follow the terms of the POA. What happens if you decline to act? Does go to the person you wish? If so, then resign.

If it can be done, it will have to be done by the person or persons with the existing power of attorney.
