Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I seem to recall hearing that the trustee of a trust is entitled to a monetary compensation for his/her service to the trust. Is this so? And, if so, what is the compensation?

In order to provide real advice, an attorney would need to review the specific trust instrument. Most trusts provide for reasonable compensation for the trustee. What is reasonable varies and depends on a number of factors including the amount of money being managed, the types of assets and any other duties that are required. Again, any analysis begins with the specific language in the trust you are looking at. Some trusts provide for a waiver of compensation from certain family member trustees, although that is usually discussed with everyone in advance. You should consult with an attorney to review the specific documents. I would be happy to assist.
