Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

If I receive aa check from the executrix of my fathers estate with no explanation, can I consider it partial payment and cash it or will cashing it mean I accept it as payment in full?

Difficult to say. If I were your attorney, which I am not, I would recommend you obtain an accounting from the executor. The accounting will give you a good idea of the worth of your father's estate and whether you should expect additional payment.
