Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My significant other died three years ago and left me 20K the rest went to his kids. I just found a letter dated in 1997 signed by him giving me 10K a year for life. How do I find out when his will was dated to see if this letter has any standing?

If the Will was probated you can look at the court file. Otherwise you need to ask the kids.
