Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Stepmother will not produce Trust
What recourse do I have if a
stepmother does not produce Trust
documents co-written by her and my
now deceased father?
Is there any way to compel her to
produce documents without court/
legal intervention? Or is there a way
for me to do it on my own since I
have little means to afford an
attorney?

Re: Stepmother will not produce Trust
As a beneficiary/interested party, you are entitled to any portion of a trust that has become irrevocable. Assuming a portion of your Father and Step Mother's trust became irrevocable, you are entitled. To recieve this you need to contact the trustee, probably your stepmother. If she refuses, pretty much your only recourse is to get a court order. There are some legal aid outfits that can assist you in filing a probate petition (do a google search on your county) and you can go down to the probate court and see if they have any assistance programs in filing such a trust contest. But other then that you probably do need the assistance of an attorney.
