Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

my employer sent me home on 3/15/10. I went to a psychatry and they put me on disability for stress and depression. from 3/17/10 to 3/31/10 My employer called me 3/18/10 and terminated me and backed dated it to3/15/10. Can they do that. Should I get a workers comp lawyer.
