Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I am currently reciving work comp benefits. I recently had surgery and I have some other injuries that cause me a lot of pain and keep me from doing my job. I want know if I can get a second job and still recive my benefits legally from the insurance company. The benefits that I receive are not enough to sustain my family and I.If I were to chose to get a second job it would not require the same job functions as my present job, and not cause further injury, but it would be uncomfortable. Would it hurt my case to get a part time job on the weekends just to help make ends meet?
