Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado
Is there an automatic stay in Colorado after a judgment has been entered against you? I am being sued by a credit card company.
1 Answer from Attorneys
No there isnt an automatic stay. They can start enforcing that judgment the second it is signed.
Your question, however, does not make sense. If you are being sued you should not be worried about a judgment and should be sure you understand the law regarding answers, affirmative defenses and counterclaims. If you dont answer you will get a default judgment.
I would strongly recommend that you contact an attorney before you file an answer. If you cannot afford an attorney for a full representation, at least get an attorney to advise you about the law so you can file an appropriate answer and protect your rights.
