Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado
the debt settlement company I hired a year ago had taken a lot of money from me and have not performed. I was taken to court in december and we now have to go to mediation in 2 weeks to try to settle to avoid a trial. my debt sett. company rarely gets back to me and i'm at a loss of how to proceed. is there anything i can do on my own to negotiate with the opposing law firm hired by my creditor? is there anything i should against my hired settlement company. HELP

Sorry about the problems. These companies are all too often scams and it would have been better to contact a consumer law attorney and then negotiate directly.
As to the suit, you will need to answer the suit, come to an agreement prior to the answer date, or have the answer date extended. As for what to do against the company, that all depends on your agreement. Provide the agreement and the complaint to an attorney and make sure to file all affirmative defenses and any counterclaims. A mistake in an answer is a quick way to limit your options.
