Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado
Last year I was sued for failure to pay a credit card debt. This year, in court, we settled that I would pay a small amount each month, with a reassessment in 6 months. It has been that 6 months and the lawyers office whom I have been paying my debt to has contacted me. They want me to show them proof of my income, however, it makes me uncomfortable to share this information with them. Is the court supposed to be involved in this reassessment? If so, who should I contact for help? Also, I am making a little more than I was when we settled on the beginning terms (about 3/4 of a dollar more), but I have way more bills I am paying at this time, and I am trying to get into a place of my own. Is my income the only thing that will get looked at? How do I get them to keep my payments the same, as that payment is all I can handle at this time?
1 Answer from Attorneys
If a Court entered an order and it does not require anything more than making payments, then tell the attorneys to take a flying leap.
