Legal Question in DUI Law in Colorado

completion of aa meetings, jail time, classes and community service

I was given a short amount of time to complete 42 hours of classes and therapy, three days in jail, 52 hours of community service, vivtim impact panel, book report. I lost my job and drivers license because of my dui. My job involved driving clients around. I cant drive to get any of my classes, service etc and I dont have a job and lost my home and am now sleeping on a couch. What are my choices? Can I get an extension?

Re: completion of aa meetings, jail time, classes and community service

Your options are to get off the couch and hop a bus, borrow a bike, or snag a friend to get you to your classes, service, etc. Or, you can just chuck it and blow your deferred or probation, and spend even more time in jail.

Depending on your judge and the jurisdiction, you MAY get an extension if you (or your attorney) tell the DA/judge of your hardships, if this was your first DUI and this is the first time you've asked for more time. Then, for the sake of all that's gracious, make sure you do the things you promised the court to do, even if both your legs fall off in the interim from walking through ten miles of snow to get to your obligations.

Good luck.
