Six months, if it is a first offense. You may ask the judge what your alternatives are. Most judges will say six months, because the whole purpose behind the law is to get you in classes. Be diplomatic.

Six months for a first, but one year for a second or subsequent. You may also have problems with your driver's license as proof of education and treatment are required to reinstate a revoked license for 2nd offense or greater. Classes are available on a sliding scale in most areas. I have heard of classes as low as $10 per week in Denver.

Your financial situation won't improve from inside a jail cell, where you may spend six months to a year, depending on your situation and judge.
Ask the probation people to work with you on the costs. Beg or borrow (I won't tell you to steal) the money to do the classes. Make a cardboard sign and stand on the corner if you have to. Going to jail won't help you in any way, unless you like big ugly men in jumpsuits looking for love.
Good luck.
