Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado

In an answer to a complaint for civil slander I filed pro se the Defendants attorney requested immediate dismissal and that I pay attorney fees. Can my case get dismissed before it gets a court date? Should I file a response?

Yes it certainly can get dismissed. This request is termed a motion. If you don�t respond in the time required the motion will almost certainly be granted. As to if they will win and if attorney fees are allowable depend on the exact claims you made and the facts.

I would strongly recommend that you contact an attorney immediately to assist you with the response. You can retain an attorney for a limited engagement where they assist you in your matter, but don�t enter an appearance. You need to understand procedure and case law very quickly.
