Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado
My husband and I have been married since June. He is not a legal citizen of the US. What do we have to do to make him legal?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It depends on whether he is eligible for adjustment of status or not. I suggest that before filing any petitions with the DHS (and therefore declaring his status and address to the government), you consult a good immigration lawyer.
If eligible for adjustment of status, he might be able to apply for a green card (residency) without having to depart the United States. Otherwise, he might be required to go back to his home country to apply for an appropriate visa.
If youd like to schedule a telephone or email legal consultation, need legal advice or help, please let me know and Id be glad to help you. I am an immigration attorney and offer confidential consultations and legal help in matters of the U.S.A. federal immigration law to clients from all 50 States and internationally. Please email your inquiries at [email protected] and Ill send you a Questionnaire. Office Telephone line is 1-402-210-2040 (please EMAIL first to schedule a consultation appointment with an attorney).
