Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado

I read that USCIS will not penalize for not renewing a greencard, how true is this? When i go into the office to file the I-90 form, what are the requirements they are going to ask for to get temporary proof of status for one year, will they look into a criminal background at that point? If they decide to not renew the greencard what happens after that? Thank you for your time in answering my questions?

You submit I-90 application by mail. Yes, the USCIS will check an applicant's criminal background, and certain crimes can result in a loss of a green card. If the I-90 is denied, a person is usually referred to Immigration court for deportation/removal.

If you feel that there is something that can result in your losing a permanent resident status, you shall consult a lawyer prior to applying for renewal.
