Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Connecticut

Can I Keep My Home

I have a 40% debt ratio. I'm thinking of filing for bankruptcy but I have a home with a 2nd mortgage ($35,000). The home has no equity at this point; I bought the house 1 1/2 yrs. ago for $135,000. I want to file about $13,000 in unsecured debt. Will I be able to keep my home and how? Is it worth my filing for bankruptcy and what type?

Re: Can I Keep My Home

You should be able to keep your home provided you have a means to pay your mortgage and keep it current. These kinds of questions cannot be answered clearly and thoroughly in postings such as these, since every client has unique needs and circumstances. Call a local bankruptcy lawyer - or two - and get an opinion based on all of the facts of your situation.
