How can preferred stock in a private company be re-valued?

Preferred stock can be appraised like any other asset. Its value is a function of the underlying company and the rights the holders of perferred stock have. Absent a recapitalization approved by an appropriate percentage of directors and shareholders, it is unlikely that the rights of preferred shares can be changed
