child custody or joint custody
i have a son to whom i have given temporary custody to a non blood relative about 11 yrs ago. he and i are very close. i would like to know if i still have the right to get custody of my son or even joint custody. he is 16.

Yes, you can motion the court for custody of your child. Whether you are given custody is a seperate analysis. If you need further help, you can email me at [email protected].

Yes, you can get custody, either sole or joint. You would have to show (1) that this would be in the best interests of your son and (2) that circumstances have chnaged since you gave away custody. (From your question I am assuming that your parental rights were not terminated, which would be a different situation altogether.) Please contact me if you would like further information.
