Legal Question in Immigration Law in Connecticut

Marriage to a GC or a USC

i am on H1B .. how much time will it take for me to go through the green card process ... if i get married to either a GC holder not yet a citizen or a Citizen. When will i get a EAD so that i can work independant rather then a sponsorer. Which is better to Apply for GC through a GC holder or a citizenship holder. What are the pros and cons.

Please suggest in details ... thanks

Re: Marriage to a GC or a USC

It is much faster to apply for permanent residence through marriage to a US citizen than marriage to a permanent resident (PR). It is difficult to estimate processing times because it depends on where you live and, if marrying a PR, what your nationality is. You can expect the entire process to take about 6-12 months via marriage to a US citizen. You can apply for the EAD when filing for permanent residence paperwork, and the EAD should be approved in 2-3 months.
