Legal Question in Insurance Law in Connecticut

Dr. didn't bill insurance/ lawyer wants to undersettle

I was injured in a car accident while living in CT,the doc accepted medicare at my pr-op but not for the surgery and sent the bill to collection without billing anyone. The lawyer states that the brand new car that hit me had only $50,000 ins.which they are willing to pay. After I reemburse medicare, etc there will only be $7,000 for me (after I pay the dr $6,6620).This was not what I was told they had. The lawyer settled at pre-trial without my permission after I moved to FL. I have signed nothing other than the medicare insurance re-embersment agreement. I do not feel they are being honest. What can I do? The hospital and the orthopedic surgeon accepted the medicare.

Unless authorized in a written agreement an attorney cannot settle a client's case without permission. You should retain a Florida lawyer to review your matter.Goodluck.
